Highlander
highlander.lol
Highlander is a public board of links where each listing holds a number of years that burn down as the listing is visited. The rank on the board is determined by the years remaining, and listings are removed when their years run out during a daily tick event.
THE PRODUCT, BEYOND THE PITCH

A good fit for
- Users who want a competitive, time-based ranking system for links that requires ongoing investment to maintain position.
- Those interested in a gamified link board with seasons, rankings, and a hall of victors.
Know the limitations
- The daily burn cap limits the maximum years burned per listing to 200 per day, preventing excessive costs but also limiting rank movement speed.
What you can do
- Maintaining a ranked listing on a public board by purchasing years to survive visits and daily burns.
- Displaying a link publicly with a dynamic rank that changes based on visits and years remaining.
Features
- The board ranks listings by years remaining, with ties broken by entry order.
- Listings are beheaded (removed) if their balance is zero or below at the daily tick at 12:00 UTC.
- The board operates in Gatherings, which are seven-day seasons ending when one immortal remains or the clock runs out.
- The last immortal standing is added to The Hall, and survivors carry 100 years into the next season.
- There are patron slots available for purchase that buy wall space beside the board for a month but do not affect rank or years.

A practical workflow
- Visits to a listing burn years only if they meet five conditions checked by the system; failed visits still redirect but cost no years.
- Beheading occurs only at the daily tick at 12:00 UTC, giving listings a full day of warning before removal.
